Michaela Thomas began her musical journey at the age of seven with singing and music theory lessons. She has been singing professionally for the past fifteen years with jazz, swing, mo-town, funk, bluegrass, and folk bands.
While Michaela is studied in both classical singing and contemporary singing techniques, she feels most passionately about teaching contemporary music. Michaela also plays guitar, piano, and the upright bass and believes knowing how to both sing and play an instrument is the most important thing a musician can do to build their musicianship. Michaela has been a teacher for the last four years with the Peace Corps and the Marin public schools system and is currently earning her second Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at Sonoma State University. Her current musical project is with Wyld Iris where she sings, plays the guitar, and the upright bass. |
